With five games remaining Bolivia is on the edge. Currently in seventh place, a spot that would at least qualify for the playoffs. Their lead over Venezuela and Peru is not so big.Bolivia has already conceded 30 goals, by far the most in the normally low-scoring CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers. In the last five matches they have to defend seventh place. The gap to Colombia is already six points. Uruguay, meanwhile is pretty much in safe hands in fourth place. Uruguay national team squad is full with top stars playing for some of Europe's best clubs, while Bolivia team has only half as many foreign players. Bolivia should be able to draw agains this opponent. Bolivia hasn't lost a home game under new coach Oscar Villegas who has been in charge since July 2024. Uruguay narrowly lost to Argentina this weekend and have only won one of their last seven qualifying matches. |
